Though the book above looked a little interesting, the odds were it would be dull and dry. In cracking it today I am amazed to find it to be the gestalt. It’s pulling everything together from the links between the beginnings of the Dutch Reform Church, its importance in the revolution and some of the stances ministers take in both the early days of our country and modern times.
One critic says Irving didn’t make much of The Old Dutch Church but it depends how you see it. After all, what is Ichabod’s hoped for refuge on the other side of the all important bridge?
